JV Boys go 1-2

January 19, 2017

The Randolph Junior Varsity boys recently completed a 3 game road trip.  Randolph traveled to Wausa to take on the Vikings, in a Lewis and Clark conference contest.  The Cards jumped out to a quick first quarter 15-3 lead.  The locals kept up their defensive pressure to take a 38-15 victory.

Six players were able to get into the scorebook, led by 2 players in double figures.  Merrix Denn had 15 points and Carter Schnoor finished with 11.  Avery Bermel and John Munter each scored 4 points, and Keaton Backhaus and Cade Linville each chipped in 2 on the night.

The Cardinals then traveled to Plainview for the Pirates annual JV Tournament.  Pierce, West Holt and Plainview, all class C schools, were the other teams in attendance.  The Cardinals gave good effort in each of their contests, but came up empty in the tournament.

The first round of the tournament saw the Cardinals take on the Pierce Bluejays.  Pierce came out playing tough man to man defense and jumped out to a 13-6 first quarter lead.  The Junior Cardinals hung tough but came up just short, falling by a 43-39 final score.

Merrix Denn had a fine opening round game scoring at team high 22 points.  Keaton Backhaus and Cade Linville each scored 6 and Carter Schnoor rounded out the scoring with 5 points.

The second round pitted the Cardinals against the West Holt Huskies.  The locals once again gave a good effort but the Huskies inside game proved too much and the Cards fell by a 48-39 margin.

Merrix Denn backed up his opening round 22 points with 23 in the second round.  Carter Schnoor had 8 points, Avery Bermel 4, Keaton Backhaus 3, and Cade Linville rounded out the scoring with 2 points.
