Elementary Library Randolph Elementary School Library
has become a very colorful and inviting place to read and find that
perfect book. Primary colors have been added to the windows
in the form of curtains and words related to the enjoyment of
reading have been added to the walls. Reading buddies are
waiting in a trunk for the students to read to while they visit the
library. Beanbags and chairs have also been spread around the room
for the students to find the perfect spot to enjoy the
book.
The fifth and sixth grade have been working with Mrs. Boehmer on using the World Book Encyclopedia on line and how to cite or reference the material they use from the cite. We will be working on how to evaluate a web site for accuracy and authenticity of the information they find on that web site.
Many new books have been added to the curriculation. The newest addition of books include those that have been nominated for the Nebraska Book awards called the Golden Sower Award. Grades Kindergarten through third will be participating in activities and voting on the nominated books this year. They will be read the book during their library class and will write a short synopsis of the book and then rate the book from 1-10. At the conclusion of the unit they will vote on what book they liked the best and Mrs. Boehmer will send that vote into the Nebraska Library Association to be counted with other elementary students from around the state.
We have also had the great honor of parents donating books to our library from the book fair. Thank you everyone for you generosity and the assistance in the education of students for many years to come. Thank you very much, the students are very excited to be reading!
