Artwork Exhibited At The Sioux City Art Center

The Sioux City Art Center will host the 21st Annual Juried Youth Art Exhibition for high school students on February 27 to April 18, 2010. Criteria for the show included originality, creativity and an expressive response to the subject matter and/or media as well as a high quality of workmanship.
Many Randolph high school art students, grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 will be sharing their talents at the exhibition. Artwork selected for the show includes seniors, Kristina and Candace. Kristina will have three works in the exhibit: Green Explosion in clay, Bloom a computer generated animation and International Red in the category of photography. Candace will show The Watcher an ink drawing using stippling techniques. Juniors will be represented with the artwork created by Hannah and Taylor. Taylor will exhibit Hannah a hand-manipulated work in the area of photography. Hannah is showing two works, Yellow Bee in photography and Spirit Mask a mask created using several different techniques and media. Danielle a sophomore will exhibit a Self Portrait produced in oil pastels. Freshman Tyler received third place for his outstanding structure created in clay using slab techniques the Three-Dimensional Cross.
The opening reception for the artists will be held February 28, Sunday, from 1:30 to 3:00p.m. and with the presentation of awards at 2p.m.
