Tough Track Competition

Coach Stubbs

April 25, 2012

The High School girls traveled to Creighton for the annual invite. Even though we scored only 8 points to finish last our two relays ran season best times.  The 3200 relay team actually ran one of the 10 fastest times in class D this season and still finished 4th on the day.  The team members of Ashley Schmit, Kathryn Kuchta, Emily Schnoor, and Mackenzie Lemmons ran to a time of 10:47.2, 15 seconds faster than we had all season.  The same girls teamed on the 1600 relay and ran a season best time of 4:40.2 but only finished 6th.  Ashley and Mackenzie picked up the only other 2 medals on the day finishing 5th and 6th in the 800 with times of 2:40 & 2:41.1 respectively.  The other girls on the team also competed well.

The Junior high girls had a pretty good day on Monday the 23rd, traveling to Hartington for the always tough Crofton invite.  This is a combined 7th/8th grade meet.  We finished 4th with 67 points trailing Crofton, Hartington Public, and HCC who had 69 points. We also scored in 12 of the 15 events on the day including 2 winners and 2 good second places and many season bests.
The winners for the day were: Caitie Lemmons in the 800-2:44.4 and the 400 relay team of Elle Bermel, Megan Fink, Caitie, and Allie Thies with a time of 57.5.  Both times were new season bests.  2nd place ribbons:  Megan Fink-400-1:06.9-new season best, 1600 relay team of Elle, Megan, Caitie, and Sarah Aschoff with a new season best time of 4:36.4 which is one of the fastest junior high girls times I remember.  3rd place: Elle Bermel-200-30.2--4th places-Elle-long jump-12-7.75, Megan-triple jump-27-10, Lydia Haselhorst-1200-4:46.4(new season best), Abbie Kint-100 hurdles-18.9(season best)and 195 hurdles-33.5(season best- 5ths: Madysen Andrew-long jump-12-6, Sarah-100 dash-14.3(season best) and 6th place- Allie Thies-triple jump-26-1.75.
The junior high girls are scheduled to be at Plainview for the NENAC meet on Friday.
