Junior Cards Even Record at 5-5

January 14, 2015

The Randolph Junior Varsity Boys' Basketball team when 3-1 in a 4 game stretch to even their record at 5-5 on the season.

Wynot came to town for a conference tilt.  The Bluedevils jumped out to a 12-8 lead in the first quarter of the three quarter contest.  The local boys mounted a comeback however, and outscored the visitors 9-6 in the second.  The final quarter saw Cards blow the game open and go on to a 31-28 victory.

Five Junior Cardinals reached the scoring column including scoring leader Mason Stubbs with 13 points.  Judson Hixson had 6, Andrew Schnoor and Grant Brunssen had 5, and Bradley Korth rounded out the scoring with 2 points.

The Homer Knights were the next opponent to come to town.  Mason Stubbs came out on fire, having 10 points in the first quarter, giving Randolph a 15-6 first quarter lead.  Homer outscored the Cardinals by 3 in the second quarter, but the local boys held the visiting Knights to only one point in the final period and went on to win by a 34-21 margin.

Jud Hixson had 13 points to lead the Cardinals on the night, followed closely by Mason Stubbs with 12, Mason Nordhues had 3, Cade Linville had 3, and Bradley Korth and Grant Brunssen rounded out the scoring with 2 and 1 points respectively.

The Creighton Bulldogs were the third visitor in a row to come to Randolph.  The game was hotly contested but in the end poor freethrow shooting by the Cardinals was their undoing.  Randolph when 1 of 10 from the charity strip and fell by a narrow 1 point margin, 22-23.

Mason Stubbs again led the way in the scoring column.  Mason had 11 points.  Mason Nordhues followed up with 4, Judson Hixson had 3 and Andrew Schnoor and Bradley Korth each had 2.

The Junior Cards needed a victory in Allen to even their record on the year and they got it.  Randolph held the Eagles to 5 total field goals in the 34-13 victory.

Sophomore Mason Stubbs was the leading scorer with 12 points.  Freshman Jud Hixson was second on the team with 9. Sophomores Andrew Schnoor and Cade Linville had nice nights with 6 and 5 respectively.  Freshman Mason Nordhues rounded out the scoring with 2 points.
