JV Boys Win R-Club

February 17, 2015

The Randolph JV Boys' Basketball team recently went 2-1 in a 3 game stretch.  Friday night saw the Crofton Warriors come to town for a regular season contest.  The Warriors jumped out all over the Cardinals and took a 12-5 first quarter lead.  In spite of going 5 of 7 from the charity stripe Randolph was not ever able to muster a legitimate threat, and fell 25-18.

Mason Stubbs led Randolph's scoring with 9 points.  Andrew Schnoor had 4. Cade Linville and Judson Hixson each had 2, and Mason Nordhues rounded out the scoring with one point.

The annual Randolph R-Club tournament was held Saturday morning, with Crofton, Laurel-Corcord-Colridge, and Wynot coming to town.  The Junior Cards had a daunting task ahead of them as 2 of the other 3 teams had already defeated the locals this season.  Randolph faced LCC in the opening round.    LCC had beaten the Cardinals earlier in the year by a 14 point margin, but  Randolph came out ready to play and jumped out to a 15-5 first quarter lead.  They continued their strong play in the second quarter outscoring the Bears 8-2 to take a 23-7 halftime lead.  Randolph continued to roll in the second half and avenged their loss to the Bears earlier in the year, with a 37-20 victory.

Mason Stubbs and Mason Nordhues had excellent games with 12 and 10 points respectively.  Andrew Schnoor chipped in 7 points, and Judson Hixson scored 6.  Bradley Korth rounded out the scoring with 2 points.  Jud Hixson led in rebounding with 11 rebounds.

Randolph had to face the Crofton Warriors in the Finals.  Crofton had just defeated the locals by a 25-18 margin the previous night.  Randolph played well in the first half taking an 11-7 halftime lead.  The contest was close throughout but 3s by Mason Stubbs and Cade Linville, as well as clutch freethrow shooting by Andrew Schnoor and Bradley Korth sealed the championship for the Cardinals by a 25-20 score.  Rumor has it that  Bradley's clutch freethrows earned him a steak dinner from his mother that night.

Randolph had some great balanced scoring in the final contest.  Andrew Schnoor led the team with 8 points. Mason Stubbs had 7, Jud Hixson 5, Cade Linville 3, and Bradley Korth had 2 points, going 2 of 2 from the line.

Randolph's tournament victories bring their season's record to 12-7 with one contest remaining.
