Cardinal Golf Wins Home Triangular

Follows second place finish in Osmond

April 27, 2015

The RHS golf team was busy on the course this week beginning with the Plainview invitational on Tuesday. The day began with more cool temps and wind but the cool temps didn't slow the Cardinals. Mason Stubbs was the top finisher on the day with an 82, finishing in a tie for second place. Andrew Schnoor added a 13th place medal with an 86.  The rest of the team consisted of Katie Fye with a 97, Logan Nordhues with a 98, and Cade Linville with a 99.  The team finished in third place trailing Stanton and West Holt.

On Saturday the Cards traveled to Rolling Hills for the Osmond Invitational. A strong showing was made by the boys from Randolph with Andrew Schnoor leading the way this time with a fifth place finish and an 84 on his round. Logan Nordhues and Mason Stubbs followed closely with a pair of 85s which placed them seventh and eighth. Cade Linville chipped in with a 91 and a 15th place medal. The team place second behind a tough Hartington squad despite a season low 345 total.

On Monday the busy golf season continued as Randolph hosted a triangular with Plainview and Cedar Catholic. The cardinals were able to use their home course advantage to defend home turf and come away with a victory. Their score of 157 is a season low and was led by Mason Stubbs' one under par 35, which led all players. Logan Nordhues was a close second with a 38. Cade Linville and Andrew Schnoor both carded 42, and Grant Brunssen ended up with a 45.  Also competing for Randolph were Katie Fye with a 55, Judson Hixson with a 50, Christian Gall with a 63, and Renae Nordhues with a 69.

Tuesday concluded the hectic stretch of golf at the Hartington/Newcastle Invitational.  The wind was strong and the Cardinals felt their first real struggle of the year ending with an 8th place finish.  Leading the way for the team with an 87 was Cade Linville, which was good enough for a 15th place medal.  Also competing for Randolph was Andrew Schnoor with an 89, Mason Stubbs with a 91, Katie Fye with an even 100, and Logan Nordhues with a 103.

The team will have some time off to practice and return to form before the Pierce Invitational on Saturday the 2nd of May.
