JV Boys Win 3 of 4

January 13, 2016

The Randolph Junior Varsity Boys' basketball team won 3 of 4 contests dating back to the Christmas break.  Randolph traveled to Wynot for the first of four contests in a conference tilt.

Wynot  jumped out to a 14-11 lead after one quarter.  In that quarter Andrew Schnoor got off to fast start with 8 of the Cardinals' first 11 points.  The Cards found themselves down by a 18-13 margin after the 2nd quarter.  Andrew continued his strong play in the 3rd and final quarter with 6 more points, but it was not enough as the Blue Devils finished with a 30-26 victory.

Schnoor led all scorers on the night with 14 points.  Merrix Denn and Mason Nordhues chipped in 4 each and Avery Bermel and Judson Hixson each added 2 points respectively.

Homer was the destination for the locals first contest following the holiday break.  The Junior Cards jumped out to a quick 1st quarter lead by a 10-0 margin.  The Knights attempted a comeback but  were not able to close the gap.  Randolph went on to win the contest 28-20, to even their record on the season.

Mason Nordhues had a nice night leading Randolph with 10 points.  Judson Hixson had 6, Merrix Denn 5, Cade Linville 4, and Andrew Schnoor rounded out the scoring 3 points on the night.

Creighton was  the site of the 3rd of 4 contests.  The Bulldogs got off to a strong start, leading by a 12-11 1st  quarter margin.  The Cardinals fought back in the 2nd quarter to take the lead; led by Judson Hixson's 6 second quarter points.  The Cards were only able to go 4 of 8 from the charity stripe in the 4th, however it was enough to secure the 5th victory of the season.  RHS won 25-20.

Jud Hixson and Andrew Schnoor were the leading scorers on the night with 8 points each.  Mason Nordhues had 6, and Merrix Denn rounded out the scoring with 3 points.

Allen was the final contest in the four game slate.  The contest was only a 2 quarter affair due to Allen's low number of players.  RHS jumped out to a 10-5 first quarter lead and hung on for a 20-16 victory.

Balanced scoring was the theme of the night.  Merrix Denn led the Cardinals with 7 points, Andrew Schnoor and Jud Hixson each had 4. Mason Nordhues and Avery Bermel had 3 and 2 points respectively to round out the scoring.

The victory over the Eagles brought the Cardinals to a 6-4 record on the season.
