COVID19 School Communication
March 15, 2020
This is Mr. Hoesing, supt. of Randolph Public Schools. The principals and I thought it would be a good idea to communicate with everyone in our district regarding the rapidly changing issues concerning the corona virus. There has been much discussion about the closure of schools. Mercifully, the virus does not seem to be impacting the health of our school aged students. School closures are being done to protect the health of the elderly.
Randolph Public Schools is planning to follow our regular school calendar for the time being. We will have school tomorrow at the regular time and will stay open as long as we aren’t forced to close by government officials. Bus transportation will be run normally. However, we are limiting access to our buildings to students and staff. For the time being we are suspending the use of the building for recreational purposes such as the use of the walking track, Team-mates mentoring and volunteer adults. Parents are encouraged to conduct school business through the use of the telephone, e-mail or text messaging instead of coming to the school.
Randolph Public Schools will begin making preparations for the potential of a long term school closing. We are looking at options for online learning and methods to provide educational resources to students in a home setting. We will continue to communicate with you if and when a long term school closing should take place.
We will continue to follow guidance from the NSAA, NDE, and the Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department when determining the participation in activities and events held with our students. Please continue to refer to our activities calendar on the website for the most up to date events schedules.
In the next few weeks we the school staff, as always, will be dedicated to the education and safety of our students. Over the week-end a rigorous cleaning of the buildings took place, we will need your support in making our school safe. Please, do not send children to school with a fever over 100 degrees or a fever that is controlled by a fever reducing medication. If you feel your child’s health is compromised in any way, you need to determine if your child should attend school.
All teachers and paras please report to your respective buildings at 7:15 am. On Monday morning.
