July 21 School Board Minutes

The regular meeting of the Randolph Board of Education was called to order at 8:10 pm by President Dan Backer, on July 21, 2008 with the following present: Members Dan Backer, Tim Kint, Paul Schmit, Greg Robinson, Barb Rohde and Michael Strathman, Supt. Rinehart, Principal Sweeney, Melissa Lind of Randolph Times and Susan Lenhoff recording secretary.

President Dan Backer announced and informed the public that a current copy of the open meetings act is posted in the board room.

Motion was made by Rohde and seconded by Robinson to hereby determine that this meeting was preceded by posted and publicized notice being published in the July 16, 2008 Randolph Times and is hereby duly convened in open session. On roll call vote motion carried 6-0.

Motion was made by Schmit and seconded by Strathman to approve the minutes of the regular board meeting of June 16, 2008 and special Board meetings on June 16, 2008, bills for payment and review of financial reports. On roll call vote motion carried 6-0.

The board listened to Superintendent Rinehart and Principal Sweeney monthly reports.

Superintendent Rinehart gave an update on the 403b.

Motion was made by Kint and seconded by Rohde to appoint Superintendent Steven Rinehart as Chief Executive Officer-Federal/State Director. On roll call vote motion carried 6-0.

Motion was made by Schmit and seconded by Rohde to accept with regrets the resignation of Eldred Bloomquist as bus driver. On roll call vote motion carried 6-0.

Motion was made by Kint and seconded by Strathman to approve the gas purchases for 2008-2009 from Berner’s Service and West Randolph Farm Supply using the same rate as last year (five cents over cost). On roll call vote motion carried 6-0.

Motion was made by Kint and seconded by Schmit to replace the stove in the High School kitchen. On roll call vote motion carried 6-0.

Motion was made by Kint and seconded by Robinson to enter in to Executive Session to discuss personnel at 8:55 pm. On roll call vote motion carried 6-0.

Motion was made by Kint and seconded by Strathman to exit executive session at 10:27 pm. On roll call vote motion carried 6-0.

Motion was made by Robinson and seconded by Strathman to adjourn the meeting at 10:28 p.m. On roll call vote motion carried 6-0.

I, the undersigned, the duly qualified and acting Recording Secretary of the Randolph Board of Education, Randolph, Nebraska, hereby certify, that the attached and foregoing minutes are a true and correct copy of a meeting of the Randolph Board of Education, held in open session at Randolph, Nebraska on the 21st day of July, 2008, which meeting was preceded by publicized notice.
