MINUTES OF REGULAR BOARD MEETING

 BOARD OF EDUCATION

7:00 P.M, MONDAY, NOVEMBER 11th, 2024

The regular meeting of the Randolph Board of Education was called to order at 7:02 p.m. by Paul Schmit on November 11th, 2024, with the following present: Members: Paul Schmit, Jim Scott, Cody Backer, Lisa Linville, Lucas Miller, Superintendent Schrunk, Principal Beacom, Principal Bartels and Tiffany Kalin recording secretary.

Paul Schmit announced and informed the public that a current copy of the open meetings act is posted in the boardroom.

Motion was made by Backer and seconded by Scott to hereby determine that this meeting was preceded by published notice in the October 23rd, 2024, Randolph Times and is hereby duly convened in open session.  On roll call vote motion carried 5-0.

Everyone joined in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Motion was made by Linville and seconded by Miller to Excuse absent board member Sandy Owens. On roll call vote motion carried 5-0.

Motion was made by Miller and seconded by Scott to approve the regular meeting minutes of October 14th, 2024.  On roll call vote motion carried 5-0.

Motion was made by Backer and seconded by Miller to approve the November 2024 claims. On roll call vote motion carried 5-0.

Mrs. Bartels talked to the board about Curriculum and Instruction. HAL students project this year is focused on cyber bullying.

American Civics was discussed. The board reviewed the State Statute 79-724. Mr. Schrunk gave the board documentation showing how Randolph Public School’s curriculum meets the state statute.  No public comment was made.

Motion was made by Scott and seconded by Miller to approve the purchase of two vans not to exceed $130,000, authorizing the superintendent to finalize the purchase. On roll call vote motion carried 5-0. Depreciation funds will be used to replace the two old red vans, they each have 120,000 miles on them.   

K-6 Principal Beacom, 7-12 Principal Bartels and Superintendent Schrunk gave their monthly reports to the board.

Motion was made by Linville and seconded by Scott to enter executive session at 8:19 p.m., for the protection of needless injury to the reputation of personnel, to discuss the Superintendent Evaluation. On roll call vote motion carried 5-0.

The board entered executive session at 8:19 p.m. for the protection of needless injury to the reputation of personnel, to discuss the Superintendent Evaluation.

Motion was made by Miller to exit executive session at 9:15 p.m.

Meeting was adjourned at 9:18 p.m.

Notice is hereby given that the next regular meeting of the Randolph Board of Education on Monday, December 9th, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. in the Lounge at the Elementary. An agenda is kept continually current and is available for public inspection in the Superintendent’s Office during regular office hours.

 

I, the undersigned, the duly qualified and acting Recording Secretary of the Randolph Board of Education, Randolph, Nebraska, hereby certify that the attached and foregoing minutes are a true and correct copy of a meeting of the Randolph Board of Education, held in open session at Randolph, Nebraska on the 11th day of November 2024 which meeting was preceded by published notice.
